The Lavender Valley

The Lavender valley lies in the village of Chodouň, near the town of Zdice, it has the largest organic lavender field in the Czech Republic. The local team has been cultivating an impressive 50,000 plants for 8 years. Their goal is to help people with holistic care for body, mind and soul and also to bring back the fame of Czech herbalism.

The field is located on the border of the Křivoklátsko, Český kras and Brdy protected landscape areas. However, many millions of years ago, during the Protohistoric period, the sea was spreading in this area, and limestone sediments were forming on the bottom of the sea. Today, the Lavander Chodounska (Lavandula Bohemia) draws its mineral-rich medicinal properties from the limestone seas of ages past. There is often a strong wind in the field, which together with the winter frost creates a “stress environment” for the plants. This causes the lavender plants to make a greater effort to survive. Therefore, Lavander Chodounska produces highly effective biodynamic substances compared to ordinary lavender, which has been proven in a clinical study.
