Bohemian Karst Museum

The Bohemian Karst Museum offers several places to visit for its visitors. Directly in Beroun, there are the Jenštejn and Salátovský houses, the Barrandien Geopark and the Plzeňská Brána (Plzeňská Gate). In the nearby towns of Hořovice and Žebrák there are branches with local exhibitions.

The Jenštejn House and the Salátovský House are architecturally valuable monuments, there is an exhibition in their premises which focuses on the Bohemian Karst protected landscape area, geology, caving, nature and the history of Beroun. The houses are connected to the Geopark Barrandien in the next street, which is a unique open-air exhibition directly in the museum courtyard. It introduces visitors to the Earth’s geological past.

The Plzeňská Gate is part of the original Gothic defence system of the town of Beroun. Inside, visitors will learn all about the fortification’s history. From the gallery you have a beautiful view of the historic square and the surrounding area.
